Nice,
How would you say the 325hp engine fits with what you expect from $70K car?
I know the acceleration times are OK, but how about when you are powering out of a corner? Does it live up to expectations, is the 325hp adequate for this type of car?
When you get down to it a M3 or 335i is near as quick (straight line). I'm not sure the base engine should be so base at this price (IMO).

It puzzles me why they even make the 3.6.

The 997 shifter is (IMO) quite nice, and far, far better than the crap shifter in the 996, but certainly not as good as the S2000s. I frequently have the 3-2 issue on track (in the 996), ending up in no man's land near reverse. It's stupid.
I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. Do yourself a favor and check out the Cayman S (or an Elise).

I would say the ratio of cool Porsche owners to asshole Porsche owners is 8:2. You'd be surprised how many are cool. What may happen is they get badgered everywhere (stop lights, grocery stores, gas stations) by people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about - people who just see a badge and either want to compliment or be total dicks about it. As a Porsche owner I get that all the time. There are times when you just want to be left alone.
The cool owners understand that not many people get the opportunity to drive a Porsche, and they want people who can appreciate the car to get that opportunity. Just like the guy you met, I'll open the car up for anyone who's interested or if I trust you enough I'll toss you my keys. I love to hear what others have to say about my car.

Nice write up. I love hearing about the experiences and stories with cars of this sort.
There aren't many Porsches that I would say I straight-up don't like, but if I see one at a light and get a chance to admire the beauty, I give a thumbs up and say, "Nice ride!". I usually get the same back. I have no beef with Porsche owners.
