I doubt that... They want the 911 to be their quickest car. The Cayman obviously has the superior layout but is handicapped by the weaker engine.
Cayman doesn't have an LSD either, just another handicap.

I think the Cayman has a weight advantage over a 911. IDK but probably around 200 lbs. Cayman RS (could) be like starting with a 200 lb weight advantage (less than a GT3).
415hp at ~3000 lbs
The Cayman S is $60K they could add ceramic brakes and GT3 engine plus LSD and sell it at $90K easy.
But not holding my breath. Porsche knows people with that kind of money would spend even more to get the GT3 (or GT3 RS) so they won't do anything to take those sales away.

Hmmm ... C6 Z51 or CS ... wish I had that dilemma. I've seen (not driven ) both at track days and am impressed with both cars.
Anyone know how the cars stack up weight and size-wise compared to each other? (Yeah, I could probably look it up, but I'm lazy). I know it isn't actually that large/heavy a car, but for some reason the Corvette has always seemed really large to me, while I perceive the Porsche as being the smaller/lighter/more tossable of the two. Perception or reality?
Besides price and drop-top, is there any area where the S2000 is objectively a better car than either?

I was at a nice mall here in DFW with Andi and there was a Cayman in the mall as a display car. I mentioned that a Cayman with the GT3 motor and ceramic brakes would be the bomb. Price it around a Z06 (never going to happen, of course) and I would seriously consider one over a Z06.
If you just wanted a balls out race car w/ no options you might be able to get PCCB and the Gt3 motor for just a little more than a Z06... but that has been said - ain't gonna happen.
I could actually see a Cayman RS w/ the mods mentioned, but it would need to be slotted near the top of the food chain in terms of price or else it would cannibalize 911 sales...and then the problem is justifying spending 2x the money on an RS vs. the S.

not for me to say, have not driven C6 or Cayman but have driven the C5 Z06 and Boxster S would say the S2000 has the better shifter/clutch (but it has less power to deal with also)
The S2000 is a true vert and as such it's at a disadvantage to a stiffer Boxster coupe, so it should really be talked about the Boxster S. Too bad Honda never made a S2000 coupe.
Corvette you'd have to say the Vert to be Apples to Apples and the C6 vert start at $54K while the S2000 starts at $34K.
But just talking about the C6 coupe and Cayman S coupe probably both are much better cars but they are not verts so that would be one area for the S2000.
Also as I posted earlier the S2000 is lighter than either by a bit and should be easier to take weight from, I mean if you were willing to remove the soft top you would probably save 60 lbs (?) right there.

I love my new C6!!! The power and handling is just amazing!!! Sad to say it but I don't miss my S2000 at all. Just had LAPD's 3/8 inch tunnel plate installed last week and boy what a difference. Car feels tighter, handles better, and responds to steering input quicker.

Why is it "sad" , sounds like you made the "right" choice for you.I think the S2k is a great ride, living here in the twisties of western NC I don't think I could give up my S2k for another C6, its so much more nimble on these narrow mountain roads . I would like to add one to the collection though.

I think many of us are "sad" to say it because we would have happily bought an "S3000" or something with more "balls". Honda has done a bad job by not updating the performance with the rest of the world. Their policy of not updating the car and keeping fans in the dark is a terrible one....
