Door locks don't work when it is hot.
A friend of mine drives an accord and when the weather gets really hot the automatic door locks do not work.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why? And how to fix it?

Give us a little more information please. What year Accord? And when you say the "automatic door locks", are you talking about pressing on the door lock switch on the doors or are you talking about using the remote control? When you say hot, how hot is hot? Does the door lock function return back to normal when it cools off?
If it is the remote that does not work, my first guess would be the battery.

WhiteS2k, It is a 99 Lx and as far as the temperature he just said hot (we had a couple of days last week that were 108). He was referring to the switch in the door... He said as soon as it cools off they all work, but when it is hot only some of them work some of the time.
Hey Joe, I know I'm not on this board much anymore, but I check in every now and then. Why don't you come over and mow my grass?

Sorry, can't offer much help. I have an early '9x Accord LX and it has been flawless all these years. I hope the additional info will trigger some other response. I guess your friend must now decide: Does the weather get hot enough often enough that it is worthwhile to get it fixed. If it was me, I'd just live with it (unless he has extended warranty and it is covered). Good luck.

My 96 Integra automatic door lock (i.e., actuated by remote or switch on door) won't unlock when it's cold (fortunately, it locks just fine). Works fine when I flip the little lock thingee, or use my keys though.
So I guess perhaps the locks get tighter when it's cold (or hot in your case), and the motor doesn't create enough force to move it?
Doesn't bother me that much though.
