Some residents in California get cited for washing their cars in the driveway.

They drop the waist into the city sewers (where its treated) while in your driveway it can go into other sources (storm water drains) that go strait into creeks and such. This has been a big issue around here in government. Last I heard was that its illegal for you to wash your car but they wont enforce it.

My HOA tried to give me shit about this same thing.

Worrying about metal running off of a car is ridiculous, as the metals can be run off by rain, etc. A heavy storm can rinse rims clean if they're protected by polish/wax.

Short of a drought, I'm washing my car.

Wow, I see revolution in your country's future. WTF is this?? Can't wash the car in the driveway any more?

How many more civil liberties can they take and keep the same national anthem, and moniker 'land of the free'. Stunning.

Thats probably a little extreme......"Land of the free" comes with many constituents. There are a lot more rights I'd be afraid of loosing before I'd consider washing my can an issue...

Us S2k folk would be f***ed! As half of us cringe even considering allowing someone else to wash our cars, the other half of us wouldnt physically be able to wash our cars at car wash places, because the ride is too low, and we wont make it over the tracks.

I was denied a $5 drive through car wash in the winter one time, said my car was too low, but then was offered an $80 handwash.. i told them to go screw themselves

This news just reeks of Ignorance,In my neighborhood people do worse things than wash dirt off their cars...people change oil and do other mechanical work in the street.

Also how many cars leak oil and fluids consistently onto the roads, whats next?fining people who don't get such leaks fixed? or telling car manufactures to create engines that don't use any lubricants/fluids?

My lawn grows like crazy and that's where all the water runs off into when I wash my car.

If its really such a Problem have the FDA or another entity regulate what goes into car wash soaps, instead of wasting the police forces time enforcing such a ridiculous law.
