Don't Laugh, but...
would any of you consider getting a Hyundai Elantra GT as a second car? I've seen it at the San Diego car show and on the dealer lot and it looks like a great bargain. It has every feature (leather, CD, side airbags) except for moonroof and abs available for about $16K. It also seems to be a well-built car, on par with the last generation of Hondas.

Not to mention that killer warranty eh? They're offering a ton of value for the price in order to kill the "korean sucks" stigma, you can save a ton on those!
We're getting one so that daddy can get an s2k, mommy gets her mr-2 spyder and when we drive with baby we drive the elantra
Babies don't mean losing your roadster, just means you need to pick up a nice "beater"

They are not bad cars...they just get bad karma from everybody else...
Plus..a lot of their cars in America are not performance oriented..
And most of the buyers are Korean..
I sat in a pretty old Hyundai Sonata in Korea....it was dayam comfortable and pretty dayam luxurious..
Great A/C....even in the nasty Korean humid summer...*blech*

Wow! Kismet.
I like the Elantra GT. It is one Hell-of-a bargin. It thought the panel fit was
better than the Caddy CTS they near by at the DC car show. it would't hurt
if it had a bit more HP though.
I like the Cardnal red.

Yeesh, the Elantra GT still looks nasty... couldn't get me to drive on unless you paid me to.
If you are going to get a Hyundai, look at the XG300. That is probably the only decent looking Hyundai they have selling here aside from the redesigned Tib.

have you ever seen a 10 year old hyundai that didn't look like a POS? or a five year one that didn't, for that matter? ok, how bout 3 years? whatever their claims about newfound quality may be, i would let other people be the guinea pigs. those cars seem to deteriorate and depreciate about as quickly as american cars. for 16K, i'd get a civic (they're now very roomy, get excellent gas mileage and have high resale values). i also agree with DouglaS2000.
