Right hand-drive Honda S600 barn find

I didn't even know they were RWD.

Bidding is at $50 and there's no reserve.

Must.... fight.... temptation!

There is one of these rotting away behind the shop I work at. The engine bay is tiny. The F20C's valve cover will poke out of the hood. You'd be hard pressed to get a D16 in there. The Tach for the original engine does redline at 12K though.

couldn't you just get a custom hood, i mean it looks like if he bought that thing he would need a new one anyways... might as well buy one that will fit the engine in it

Look at all the rust on that thing. You'd be looking at a huge bill just to get that thing anywhere near road worthy. Forget all the fabrication costs to get the engine in and then drivetrain assembly. Not worth the trouble unless you have tons of $ to blow.

by looking at the condition of that thing, the torque and power of the f20 will rip that chassis in half. if you are to rebuild that thing, you gotta put a motorcycle engine in that thing to stay true to the original S's heritage. in fact, if i am not mistaken those cars were chain driven, just like motorcycles.

Yeah the S600 was chain drive. Perhaps the entire drive train could be replaced? Anyway it sounds like an expensive and challenging project. It would be cool though to have a S2K/S600 hybrid car. The S600 certainly has cool historic appeal.

I hate seeing cars left to rust away. So sad

Nice.

Too bad that car will never be sold in the US again - I'd love to have a factory-built lightweight sports car with an engine from a busa or RC50, for around 20 grand. But there are too many gov't regs and people just aren't into small cars these days I suppose... Closest you could come to that might be what, Beck spyder or somesuch?
