Has anybody here driven a Peon, i mean Neon. I've driven the Dodge, Plymouth and the Chrysler version (they call them Chrysler's in Canada) and they suck! Gotta love the poor reliability history, cheezy interior materials and ass resale value. not to mention neon's are all over the place. I would save up an extra 4 grand and get a wrx.

Man, hostile people here, hahaha.
I may be mistaken, but there are cars that already exist that are cheaper than the s2000, probably considered, not as nice as an s2000, yet can still take it off the line.
I personally don't care for mustangs, neons, or whatever, but I must say, big-ups to Dodge and Ford (and whoever else) for making a relativiely fast and affordable car. Isn't that was Honda has done with the S2000? It is very affordable when you look at what you get with the car.
You guys can regurgitate (sp?) numbers, it matters not. We all bought this car for different reasons. Sometimes the numbers don't matter...the car is just plain fun to drive and we love driving it. If a neon owner can feel the same way, we should be happy that they can get the sme enjoyment at a cheaper pricetag than we did. I dunno...maybe I'm too non-confrontational, hahaha

Simple Comment:
Your rolling down the street, and pull up next to a SRT POS NEON @ red light. A fly honey is walking in the cross walk. You and the DF driving the Neon both offer to give her a ride... Now which car do you think she'll be gettin in
Put thats my 2 cents...

People people...where's the love?
I'm glad some of you want more torque. I do too. We won't get it, but its nice to want it. That's what makes us human; wanting the impossible so Honda can try to build it.
The extra 50 ft lbs is in the two cylinders Honda decided to leave off this engine. They tried to make the lightest, best handling sports car they could and still satisfy all the saftey regs in the states. They did a good job. I'm not saying it is impossible to produce 200 plus ft lbs out of a 2 litre that revs to 9,000rpm and makes 240hp, but you are asking a lot for your 30 grand.
But, if enough people keep bitching about it, they'll throw in a V6, raise the price 5 grand, and then folks will complain that a Vette can still beat them in a drag race.

I could give a crap less about technology bragging rights. RESULTS are what matters. Who here who owns an S would feel comfortable defending yourself after being beaten in a street drag (or on the track) with the argument: "Sure he beat me, but I'm NA and he needed a turbo....do you know how many HP per liter the MY S2000 puts out?" What something DOES is often times more important that what it is. Forced induction may be viagra, but who here would choose being impotent over having to take a pill?
And sub 6 sec 0-60 times in a car that is less than 20K is just awesome. (It wasn't that long ago when Ferraris were doin' 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.)
Additionally, if any of y'all have been behind a Skp Barber Instructor-driven Neon, those things can haul when the guy behind the wheel knows a few things about driving.
With all this said, there's still no fookin' way I'd ever buy one--but then again, I'm not 18, I make just a wee bit more than minimum wage and have no problem spending an extra 12K to embarass Boxters.
