Do you think a car can be TOO fast?

All good replies, but I was looking more for the school of thought that in the real world a 300hp NSX can be as much fun as a 400hp 911 turbo. I mean the NSX is slow when compared to a turbo or a Z06 or a E55 AMG. But in the grand scheme of things the NSX is still a fast and capable and fun car to drive.

Well I think most of the cars today has too much power and is actually TOO fast already. What's the point of having a car that can go 130mph when the highest allowable speed limit is around 70? Leave alone the ones that is able to go as high as 200mph.

Well, I'll contradict that statement. One of the main reasons I sold my old 480hp/480tq Supra was that it was overkill on the street. I almost crashed it at least once when the 2nd turbo kicked in while cornering, and it felt like a caged lion in traffic. LOADS of fun in the right situations, but not as fun as the S2000 in the realities of urban traffic and cops.
I also passed on buying a GSXR1000 after riding one even though it was the most fun I'd ever had on 2 wheels at the time. I predicted doom and gloom if I'd have bought one (and I was perfectly comfortable on my old R1).

My dad is a benz dealer, and he brought home one day a 2003 cl 55, 500 whpr. i drove it ho9me from dinner one day, pushed the pedal ddown maybe 1.5 inches to egt on the highway. the warnin light came on casue of traction control, and the engine shut. and if u turn the tcs off, u spin out. but it was alittle damp. anyway, i feel something can be too fast if you cant control the power. but, even if you can, u still leave the car being scared; the definition of power.

When I was test driving cars when I got my last one. I thought the Viper was pretty out of control. I was coming from a mildly souped up SLK230, and the hp just overwhelmed the tires and chassis really easily. I was losing it around corners, and I knew that the car wasn't for me, and everyday driving (or maybe I wasn't skilled enough for it at the time). Since then I have driven a few times around some tracks, gotten a bit better. I have driven 600 hp 911TT's around a track and thought it was easier than the Viper. I guess it really depends on driver experience & skill, and conditions (track vs. street). I laughed when I was watching Hurley Haywood test drive the GT2 on Car & Driver TV, he was practically falling asleep when he was doing 140+ mph around the track. I guess it's all perspective.
