Do you think a car can be TOO fast?

Funny, I was just thinking the opposite: In the world of bikes, there can *definitely* be such a thing as too much power. They just become dangerous and nearly unridable in many situations.

I think there is a car (or many cars) that is/ are too fast for everyone. Many of us (yes, me included) can get into a situation where the S2000 is too fast. If I am driving faster then my skill level can handle and make a mistake hurting the car, myself, or God forbid, someone else, tehn the S2000 is too fast for me. Anyone that thinks there isn't a car built that isn't too fast for them is a fool and they would have won both Indy and the Coca Cola this past weekend.
O.K. I am off fo my soap box now.

Ah sportbikes... what is too powerful? When will the power surge stop? People have been wondering this for years in the sportbike world, and every year, bikes get faster and faster. What was yesterday's "DEATH MACHINE"(think YZF1000) is today's "overweight and Down on power" bike that nobody wants. The GSXR1000 is the bike that is REALLY pushing the envelope as "what is too fast" or overkill for the street. I have owned a YZF R1 (about 10.2@138mph) and you say that no one can really use that sort of power on the street? But I say of course you can!!! It's not like getting up to 140 in a s2000 where it takes a better part of the day to get there, you simply twist the throttle (downshifting is optional on a big liter bike) and before you realize what is going on, you will be easily doubling the speed limit on the interstate. No huss, no fuss. It's a lot easier to safely speed when you can do it in the shortest distance and get back down to sane speeds before anyone sees you.
Will everyday common sports cars ever reach the power envelope of the modern sportbike (9 second 1/4 mile times)? I doubt it, but if Honda wants to be able to compete with the other car manufacturers who are putting out 300+ hp to $30,000 cars, then they need to up the ante. And that's how it begins, one manufacturer trying to outdo the other. But when will it stop? Who knows, but if the current trend continues, we should all be driving 400hp, 2500 pound, and $30,000 sports cars by 2010.
