Default Do you guys think a F430 is worth $3/mile?

I'm just thinking off the top of my head. I'd love a F430 but no way able to afford a new one. I'll assume some day a $190K (new) will be $110K (used) I'll throw out 6 years old used.

But anyway let's say 40% depreciation in 6 years (could be more could be less) but let's call it $90K in 6 years (if bought and sold new after 6 years). That's about $15K/year or $1200/month.

So bunch of numbers, but if 5000 miles a year for $15K year around $3/mile.

I know you could drive it more miles to get cheaper cost per mile but for most people it'd be a weekend toy. For me I'd be hard pressed to put 5K miles a year on one.

Anyway let's say a used 30K mile F430 won't depreciate as much as a new one did but it'll cost in maintance and still depreciate some plus fuel tires and insurance, so still may cost $1200/mo take it all together or $3/mile.

I don't think that's so bad.

I know a Z06 is cheaper but driving a F-car is an event. A vette no matter how fast it's still just another vette.

people with F-cars could give a rats ass about the cost.

also, f430s seem to be fetching way more than list.

Don't forget servicing. At 5k, you're about due for full service. In general you should probably also budget $5k/yr for servicing...

Now, about insurance...

$5K/year seems a bit low doesn't it.

$3/mile.

Well, why don't you blow $1K and rent a Ferrari for a day. that should satisfy your craving

BTW I just read Ferrari is considering a V8 front-mid engined coupe that will be a lot cheaper price than the F430. Due out in 2 years (? don't know if this is true) but the report (in R&T) said car is taken over from the second gen Maser coupe.

Anyhoo this might be the ticket, b/c it's supposed to be a big volume car 3000/year to counter tha AM V8. If it sells at 3000/year it'll account for more than half of F-car volume.

I don't know if this is true, but I hope so. Well I hope it's better than the last Maser coupe.

How about the Audi Lemans? That should be a pretty cool contender too...

I just am not blown away by the AM V8 (if it costs $120K+) maybe the Lemans will be it for me. I read the Lemans has more room inside than a typical exotic and if it comes with a V8 it should be a great deal cheaper than a Gallardo (which is being pushed up market with 550 hp).
