I don't think it total but depend on the insurance also. Because insurance like to total out Luxury car is what I notice when the damage is not to extensive.

You sure about that E36Ap1, I think the reason is that a little damage can equal a lot or $$ and go past the amount where it's worth saving. What is it again 75% of cost? That car, from those pics, doesn't look near totaled. A track associate I know put his E36 M3 into a wall at Pocono Raceway - 23K in damange and they fixed it.
