I change my oil regularly, but when I shift I never use that pedal on the far left. Is that bad?

I change oil every 5000 miles or 3 to 4 months no matter how good the oil is and I use mobile1 every time. Car seems to run smoother and last longer with regular oil change. I also change oil in my work minivan which is Hyundai entourage with about 130k miles now. I used to change oil every 5000 miles but now with high mileage I change every 4000 miles. I can definately tell the oil is going bad around 4000 miles cuz car runs like a shit. Yea I know it's Hyundai so it's shitty car to start with but it's so much smoother after oil change.

My dad gets his oil changed about every 20-30k mi on his bmw's. He has gone up to 38k w/o a change. He maintains his cars about as poorly as anyone can. Nothing gets fixed/serviced until it breaks.

If the oil often doesn't get to temp, it's going to degrade much more rapidly. If you simply drove on the interstate constantly, a good synthetic would probably last an easy 25k miles (filter a fraction of that). But if you do many short drives like I do, it's going to get moisture in your oil more rapidly. My commute to work is about 4 minutes and less than a mile and a half, others are probably similar if they purposely live by their work.

No, they don't last that long when subjected to severe duty use, which the average S2000 will certainly see...many threads on BITOG back that up

Amsoil is good stuff, but you might want to check and see if they recommend a filter change during that period.
They don't...my stepdad is an Amsoil dealer.

bs...I challenge you to get a UOA at 15k (or even 10k), unless you're using auxillary oil filter, it will be shot
Would you like to see pictures? Or would you rather I give you names of people on this board that did my last oil change with me? I didn't touch my oil or filter for 30K miles...and still had 3 quarts of good oil left.

Sorry, but you lose this one.

My dads BMW 330i has lifetime transmission fluid, and guess what 180k miles later its still sloshin around in there with 0 mechanical problems. I must say thats impressive for an automatic transmission.

That's very surprised for a German.
