I change oil every 5000 miles or 3 to 4 months no matter how good the oil is and I use mobile1 every time. Car seems to run smoother and last longer with regular oil change. I also change oil in my work minivan which is Hyundai entourage with about 130k miles now. I used to change oil every 5000 miles but now with high mileage I change every 4000 miles. I can definately tell the oil is going bad around 4000 miles cuz car runs like a shit. Yea I know it's Hyundai so it's shitty car to start with but it's so much smoother after oil change.

My dad gets his oil changed about every 20-30k mi on his bmw's. He has gone up to 38k w/o a change. He maintains his cars about as poorly as anyone can. Nothing gets fixed/serviced until it breaks.

If the oil often doesn't get to temp, it's going to degrade much more rapidly. If you simply drove on the interstate constantly, a good synthetic would probably last an easy 25k miles (filter a fraction of that). But if you do many short drives like I do, it's going to get moisture in your oil more rapidly. My commute to work is about 4 minutes and less than a mile and a half, others are probably similar if they purposely live by their work.

Amsoil is good stuff, but you might want to check and see if they recommend a filter change during that period.

bs...I challenge you to get a UOA at 15k (or even 10k), unless you're using auxillary oil filter, it will be shot
Sorry, but you lose this one.
