Dealer put too much oil in our CR-V!
Today I noticed a little greasy puddle under my wife’s CR-V. I peeked under and the oil pan was coated. I checked the dipstick expecting it to be low, and it was FAR too high.
It was last changed 600 miles ago at our local Honda dealer. I’m taking it in first thing in the morning (going to take the day off to deal with this). It looks like the oil pan is leaking, so I will demand to have that fixed. I plan on jacking it up in a bit to look for other leaks.
I have been reading about all the catastrophic things that can happen with too much oil (frothing by the crank, which changes the viscosity of the oil to change, and can lead to under-lubrication).
What else do I need to have checked?

From my research today, the slight increase in pressure can cause gaskets to leak (like the oil pan is doing). With too much oil the crank is now in constant contact with the oil in the pan, so it is whipping air into the oil. This makes it harder to pump and also changes the viscosity of it……
I just had a look underneath and everything else looks fine except the pan leaking. Now I just wonder what has been happening inside.
I’m going to have them show me what they drain.

Most likely your front and rear main seals are now leaking. The rear main usually starts pouring if the oil level is up to the actual level of the seal. I would bet a benjamin note its the rear main. Most likely will stop when the oil is returned to the proper level. Just pull the plug and drain it down to the proper level. Why in gods name are you taking it to the dealer anyway. 90% of there techs are underpaid hacks, and the guy doing the oil changes is probably 18 at best. If you can't do your own oil changes at least find a decent independant shop where real mechanics work. Good luck getting them to do anything about it.

Fingers are crossed it’s just the pan. I didn’t see any other leaks while under it.
I know what you are saying about the dealer, but it’s been a time issue as of late. It either had to go to them or just not get done.
