I think she's on her way to becoming a solid "journeyman" driver like Alex Tagliani (minus the wins in Atlantic). She'll win a few races through her career, but never a championship. If the IRL changes the chassis weight rule, her biggest advantage will disappear, and she may never win. She hasn't learned to set up the car for a full fuel stint, or how to drive in traffic. These are the things you're supposed to learn in the lower formula.

well wait a minute ralper.....
to "compete" and to "win" are two totally different things....you (meaning everyone) would have to agree that she's been competitive.
the thread was discussing the fact that danica hasn't won anything - yet.

A very big disadvantage that someone like Danica has is that with all of the attention that she has gotten, she is expected to be an instant or almost instant winner. The same type of thing happens to ball players. Daryl Strawberry, for example, was hyped by the Mets organization as a superstar before he had a chance to develop his skills. Had he been given more time (in the minors or out of the spotlight) he probably would have developed into a much better ball player. My point is that the expectations for Danica were much bigger than she could deliver, and now she can only disappoint unless she wins.

Either way she's fiesty and fun to watch. I do agree her skills need to continue to improve if she wants to stay on top of the attention.

I watched Lyn St James drive junk years ago at Indy - when you had to really qualify - she couldn't BUY a sponsor. Guess no one wants to back a slightly older lady who won't pose with her boy like body like a clown. Sorry, this girl rubs me the wrong way. If she really hit this guy its more bush than you can imagine. It's not like he could hit her back (love to see the reaction to THAT).
Her performances on road courses have been all I've needed to see. She's had a very good car and can qualify well on ovals with it. On the RCs she was embarrassing.
