Too bad the M3 beat the CTS-V by like 6 seconds.
but they didn't want you to know that...
Edit* keep in mind this is 6 seconds faster than what Lutz did in the Auto CTS-V
I wanna see what the pro drivers GM had on board could do with the other cars...that'd be interesting.

Is the picture of the board you posted supposed to demonstrate something related to your verbiage?
Hein-Rocket is the man and the CTS-V is a beast. It even pulls the new E63 up top in the most recent C&D comparo with the Jaguar XFR. I can't wait to see what the new TT M5 can do. Of course, GM would then need to add $5-9k to the sticker and drop the full forged LS9 motor in the CTS-V to reliably make the full 638hp. Then, that should put the CTS-V back ahead of the upcoming M5.

I drove a CTS-V from GM's test fleet once and I gotta say, that thing is stupid fast.
Faster than my C6 in straight line on a heavy sedan is just crazy.
I wonder how the CTS-V coupe is gonna be like.

Hein-rocket is one of the best GM has to offer. It would have been interesting if each Mfr put up their own favorite drivers. as it is this is no more significant than if Pedal Faster kicked your (generic S2K driver) S2K-driving @ss in a Focus at a Solo2 event, which he probably would.

Maybe we'll get a magazine on-track comparo using a single driver. They've done that before. Even then there can be bias, e.g. Randy Pobst will drive the wheels off a typical 911 more than another type, but still an improvement in the comparison.
Regardless, yes, I am impressed with the CTS-V and if I ever get around to looking at used M5's seriously I'd have to compare used CTS-V's myself!

Wow, that 30 second window for the CTS - V with different drivers is amazing.
I mean 10 seconds, OK but 30?
Must've been one guy with narcolepsy and one geriatric lured from Florida with the promise of a new Caddy.

You've lost me as well -- the picture you attached didn't have Heinricy's time, which was almost four seconds faster than the M3's time.
my bad for the confusion.

I'm pretty shocked a 20yr old in an 08 M3 beat the M5 so bad.

I'm pretty shocked a 20yr old in an 08 M3 beat the M5 so bad.
For instance, when I first started lapping my 04 S2000 at Mid Ohio it took me well over 2 minutes to turn one lap (about 2:05-2:10). Several track days later, I was able to turn low 1:50's, shaving nearly 20 seconds off my lap time. Also, when I was turning low 1:50's in the S2000, I was lapping guys in much more capable cars that were likely getting familiar with their cars and the track. Does that mean the S2000 is faster than a Ferrari 355 or Viper GTS? Hell no!
So, although the CTS-V is an impressive (bad ass) car, I take those lap times with a grain of salt.
