Default Crazy Insurance Rates

I sold my k6 gsxr600 partly because my insurance was $170 a month on just the bike. I had no cars on the policy because they were on my parents policy. I'm looking for another bike now and i called my insurance guy that i had it for on the bike and my cars are insured with him now. It's gonna be like $197 a month for my s2000, 240sx, and another bike. my insurance is gonna be $70 a month for the bike addition so i guess i'll start actively looking. I'll be back soon with another bike

I'm surprised at how crazy cheap insurance on a bike is in Nebraska. I haven't hit 25 yet, and I can get full coverage on a sport bike for about $50 a month.

I checked out some rates this morning at the local State Farm agency, which I'm already insured by on my S2000. I figured I'd probably be paying at least what I pay per month for my S if I bought a bike ($122), but it'd be less than half.

The agent who gave me the quotes told me that a lot of it has to do with the fact that we can't ride year-round here. That makes sense, you really only need coverage during about half the spring, all of summer, and half of the fall around here.

I pay $80 a year for my '04 Honda VFR800. I don't carry collision and it is a 9/12 policy that assumes (rightly) that I won't ride it during the winter.

I'm 26 years old in Maryland (high insurance) and I am paying $511/year (~$42/mon) for full coverage ($100k/$300k w/ $500 col and comp deductibles).

Drop me a PM if you want the number for my agent

Shop around. Rates vary a LOT for same bike, location, and rider. I had a 4-to-1 spread last time I shopped my policy.

26, PA, no collision on a '00 SV650 no time/mileage limitation (full year coverage) for $288/year through Progressive, though it's a subcontract of my auto coverage that I have through AAA (they don't do bikes).

My insurance is up in a few days so I'll be calling in for the new rate if they raised it, I paid a YEAR in FULL for around $360.

Progressive quoted me over $1000 for an 09 SV650S in MD. I am also 26, no collisions/claims (knock on wood).
