Default Crappy tires = More fun?

Sense most of us get stuck driving at around the speed limit on public roads i've been thinking of ways to make it more fun.

It's more fun to drive a slow car fast. Well sense the s2k has such high limits, perhaps a fairly crappy set of all seasons would be more fun around town. Something with good breakaway abilities (lots of warning before the rear end comes around to slap you).

Anyone ever try this? Do better tires make the car harder to enjoy in the real world?
I think it's the fear that is fun, which is why I love driving in the snow (esp in empty parking lots!). All that focus really gets your heart going.

What do you think?

(I don't know if this is the wrong forum, but I'm not just asking about s2k's any car will do.)

The reason I thought of this is I was driving around in my snows today (the roads are nice and clear). The have way less grip than the summer tires, but better breakaway feeling. I think they might be more fun. Way slower but more fun.

And slower is always good on public roads

I definitely agree. When grip is poor, one can essentially practice high/medium speed maneuvers at low (safer) speeds. I love every type of surface (I'm rally crazed).

I agree completely. If you're not goin to track your car, and you jus want to have fun, you could totally swap the S02's for some crappy all seasons and have fun. That's what I did with my old Z28. I put 205's all around just drifted the rear end out with the gas whenever I felt like it, wet or dry.

On my first hot rod car 71 grand prix with built 400 etc. (and primer paint!) being a 16 year old kid I couldn't afford dececnt tires so I was given a set of 14 inch snow tires that were like 195's. Talk about roasting them I could spin them for blocks!

Dude, it's "since," not "sense."
