Corvette Magazine Article On Z06 vs. 911 TT w/X50 package..................

If you don't have more money than the G man, then there is a very good chance that one of the primary considerations of the P car purchase is for the prestige and exclusive factors. Luckily
When comparing the Z06 and TT -- The Porsche is overall the better package, for quite a bit more money. Calling people who choose the more expensive cars snobs and brand whores is simply not correct. The PCA as well as the various Vette clubs are two of the largest enthusiast clubs out there, for good reason, they have great cars to play with.

Steve,
Again, if I had the cash to burn, I'd get a 996TT or GT3, they're great cars and obviously better than a Z06 overall.
I run with the PCA group here in Dallas at several of their events each year. Some of them are snobby tools, but most of them are enthusiasts like you and me.
You can't justify the additional expense of the P car over a C5 without including the prestige factor. The performance and feel of a 996TT cannot be twice as good as a Z06, it's that simple. Any shortcomings, save for maybe the AWD system, can be addressed in the Z06 for a lot less than the $50-80k price difference.
How can a 996TT be more fun to drive than a new Z06 with a Ligenfelter 427TT, upgraded interior, and killer brakes for a similar price.

Rai, dealer treatment varies for every marque. I had zero static on my Z06 test drives (and I went to 3 dealers before getting the price I wanted).
If I had the bucks I'd consider the 911TT too. I know it is "nicer" car with even more muscle. Considering the price difference that's just not a slam on the Z06. The Enzo kicks my ass too but there's a natural order to things and for the most part I accept it.

The strength of the X50 is not just in one area but all around. If I remember correctly last year there was an article by one of the big magazines and they did the 0-100-0 test. The top three were some bike, the Enzo, and third the X50. I will never forget the rush I felt when I rode in one. If you don't believe me you can go to the local dump and see if you can find the soiled pair I thru away after that...

There is a point where the argument for diminishing returns simply is not appropriate and another car simply becomes a "better car". The cars that best illustrates this? The S2K. EVO. Z06. SRT-10.
