I'm sure the researchers would also find that chefs are at an increased risk of loosing smell and taste sensitivity.
I wonder who paid for that research.

I'm must have been the hellaflush / stance crowd paying for reasons to hardpark your S, instead of driving it as it was intended

Huh? If you read the article again you will notice that the research is just "ACTUALLY" saying that the driver in-a-convertible would experience excess of 85dB at 55mph and above. That's it, nothing more. Everything else is just speculation!
As to how long and loud it can cause you hearing loss requires more research. There are safety recommendations, but these are just SAFETY recommendations.
To conclude that convertible can cause hearing lost just from that research is down right stupid...really stupid. If you drive 12hrs/day and everyday with top down at 55mph and above, then i say that's plausible. But convertible isn't only the only device that make loud noise, how about loud music, loud exhaust ?
It's common sense people. Just like eating. Consume excess calories and it'll make you fat. Consume too little and you won't have much energy.

They did include specific numbers for their test cars at several speeds. The Nissan was 104db (!) at 75mph. That's not an unreasonable highway speed. According to the article that noise level can be damaging after just 6 minutes.

Straight from the "No Shit, Sherlock" department! Did somebody actually pay for this study? What a waste of money.
