I'm looking at the new BMW Z4 sDrive35i. I used to have a 335i with the same twin-turbo 6cyl and it was a nice car. A $400 tune and I ran a 12.8 quartmile with everything else bone stock. If I get the Z4 I'll daily drive it, but I'll need something a bit roomier as a 2nd vehicle for those days when I'm solo with the kids (my wife has an SUV for family duty). I was thinking maybe a used F150 so that I'd also have some utility.

I currently have a turbo S2K for weekend/fun and a TSX for everything else. I've only put 3000 miles on the S2K in the past 14 months though, and I'm starting to feel as if I'm wasting it. The Z4 gives me the fun factor, but it is a lot more refined and smooth for daily driving usage. It's got all that stuff I like in my TSX (bluetooth, climate control, heated seats, etc). I'm guessing I'd drive the Z4 about 75% of the time and the truck 25% of the time. I could buy a nice used F150 with the cash that I'd get from selling my S2K and the parts, and lease the Z4 for virtually the same payment that I currently make on the TSX (the BMW lease rates are insanely good). I'm thinking I'll go with a black one, something like this:

you are going from owning two cars to owning one and leasing the other. if anything in the end you want to lease the daily and own the fun car

I've leased cars for years. Works for me because I get bored after about 2-3 years and want to switch it up. This way I never have to carry negative equity with me and always get something new. If I got the Z4, it'd be the fun car and the daily. I'd drive it 75% of the time, and only drive the truck when necessary.

I don't think anyone actually read the post, and they just posted S2K and TSX. He wants to drive his fun car, but for some reason he isn't. Probably because it doesn't have the creature comforts he wants. He likes the stuff in his TSX but he doesn't have those in his S2K. Therefore his idea of a fun car is something that's still sporty but has a decent amount of luxury to it. What does that sound exactly like? The Z4. Plus having a truck is always awesome.

I agree and it sounds like the Z4/truck combo would be best for his needs/wants, but the question is what we would rather have. In that case, S2000 and TSX all day which is obviously going to be the overwhelming favorite on this board.

The Z4 and the truck will probably be your ideal vehicles, based on your concerns. Also, nothing beats having a truck for practical purposes and convenience. It will get its use, and will really help you out in the long run. Good luck!
