Default Cleaning gooey exhaust pipes

I've seen a couple of tips on the internet, but anyone here want to offer some advice on how to clean melted boot-heel off a chrome exhaust pipe?

...never mind why I ask.

I'll make something up. You might try WD-40 and some scotchbrite or a stiff nylon bristle brush. If that fails, maybe brake cleaner?

Bug and tar remover or Goo Gone should remove the bulk of the mess. Some chrome cleaner afterward should remove the rest.

Goo Gone, WD40, maybe chain cleaner?

Tried some Goo Gone, and to my surprise, it didn't make much of a dent in the mess. I'll try one of the other suggestions next and report back.

I think goo gone is mostly for adhesives.. you may want to try some oven cleaner or acetone to break down the melted rubber and a plastic scraper so the chrome doesn't get scratched up. Good luck!!
