Mini has a lease special for the Cooper S at $150/ month??
If that's true, go for that. Of course that's probably with at least $5000 drive-off.
I would only go for the Cooper S for the $150/ mo

not a lease a balloon loan. IMO if you can't afford the car don't buy it. You are paying money just for interest and very little is going to pay off the car.
to be honest, it's not a smart decision to buy a car you can't afford. I would recomend waiting and save up every month if you must have a flashy car or else just buy a 5-6 year old car that costs just $6K or whatever and pay the same as you would pay on the balloon loan.
A car balloon loan payment is a lot like a lease agreement, but the end result could be either paying it off in full, or refinancing for another term. That new amount, whether a normal auto loan, may have a higher interest rate due to it now being an older vehicle which doesn't qualify for the low rates given on new cars. Thus, auto buyers have to weigh every option.
This type of lending is designed to be an easy way to pay for a vehicle that is higher priced than one would normally attempt to purchase if stuck with the old-fashioned loan system.

It's like all the interest-only mortgages that sunk all the people.

I haven't driven a new Si...but I did just drive a new MCS. It had just been to the dealer for an updated firmware flash and I am positive that it added 10whp easily. I was very impressed overall and handling was much better than I anticipated from a FWD car. And the BMW bling bells & wistles were pretty cool honestly.
