The problem with the SSR was that it tried to be a lot of things at once.
For $45-50k, you can probably get a separate truck + Mustang convertible and get more performance out of those two. Adding a meatier engine isn't going to fix that problem.

i thought the biggest gripes about them were that they literally drove like a bucket of bolts.
the frame twisting and the like that plagued the old car will only be worse with a ls2.
