Chevy Caprice SS - hit with the pretty stick

Looks good, but not "great" to me. And yes, those studio based press shots always look amazing. Real life shots are always far less impressive.
As for the whole manual transmission thing, they might lose 10% of their business over that. Seems like the people who love to harp on this are people who would never buy the car anyway.

^This is a very limited production model vehicle. They'll probably move something like 10,000 a year or so. So just offer the damn transmission option! It's not like they don't have a parts bin they can easily raid...
As a G8 GXP owner with a manual transmission, I completely Agree!
This car needs 3 things:
1) the new LT1 from the corvette
2) Manual Transmission.
3) Better styling (more aggressive like the Pontiac)
This strikes me as akin to the G8 GXP - lack of a manual however would be bad news for the car, since its supposed to be the sport version.

They have said there will be no manual option. Perhaps down the road they will, but they'll probably pull another jack move and only offer it on an even more performance oriented model and charge $5000 more (a la G8 GXP ) I swear to God GM never freaking learns.

I don't see a Chevy Caprice in this thread but I do see the new SS sedan.
And overall I'm disappointed:
-looks worse than the G8
-same horsepower as the G8 GXP but no manual transmission
-a new G8 GT was under $30k. Good luck getting this for less than mid 40s.

I realize that my opinion isn't a popular one, but it still holds. If offering a manual transmission option in this car was a money making proposition, they would offer one. The fact that there isn't one is telling.

Did they make money on the SSR? Or how about the Solstice Coupe?

It is my opinion that there are many people that might have been interested in the SS IF it had been made in stick.

I personally think its nothing to write home about and that front end looks like a cross between an impala and a hyndai genesis. However, its nice to see a true performance sedan coming from chevy. Hopefully it will be better than the G8 considering it is newer!
