Hmm, yeah I'll believe it when I see it.
Me, I'd take the 2.0 turbo or vr6 variant, I'd prefer rwd over quattro, and keep the cost around 30K and yeah my cheap ass might even splurge for it. But I just don't see it happening. The R32 which has a mass produced since the early 90s variant of the staggered inline size, uses a mass produced body, and for the most part is essentially a hot version of the GTI still costs around 30K. A Scirrocco (spelling) in comparable trim would cost more. So in an age where manufacturers can remove stuff and charge more provided the vehicle is a special model, how is audi going to charge less for this car than a TT?

I agree that I can't see this coming in below high-$20K for a base model (say, $27,999) and then move on up to about $40K for a fully loaded VR6 or 2.0T. Neither VW or Audi are into cars priced that inexpensively when they're a niche vehicle.

It does need to be topless. All modern two seaters that don't make 400 HP need to be topless or else you are just driving a small car. I'd rather drive an S2000 on a nice day than a hardtop 911.
I like it though, it needs a little more R8 in it like the swoosh on the side.

Its pretty certain that some small coupe/convertible will be coming from VW Group. Whether its a lesser TT, lesser Boxster, or a VW roadster is not really known yet, but if its low/mid-$30s with good power, it will be a good car imo.

Although the starting price sounds great, I’d expect a mildly optioned base model to add up to 33K while the 2.0T in the high 30’s. Still decent and something to look forward to.
