The CTS-V is one very nice GM car, but d@mn, these rebates hurt on the back end. You end up loosing a TON trying to get a decent price on resale (if that's important).

Why the heck aren't cars that I'm interested in rebated like this .
if you get the car for $3000 off invoice, how the hell can you piss and whine about resale? WTF? You think people buying a used car should want to pay more than for a new one?!? A CTS hold's its value pretty good, considering no-one pays sticker. If you cannot afford to lose a few grand a year on depreciation, you cannot afford a Cadillac. Pretty simple.

Look at the sticker price of a 2003 Accord V6, then look at the current KBB value. Compare this to a $30,000 2003 CTS, and you'll find the CTS retained more of its value, even going by the sticker price. And no-one pays sticker.

I thought that GM offered rebates to employees of GM and related companies any way....

I say this because my parents, My mom's dad, and my mom's brother all used to work for Hughes Air Craft (some sort of affiliation with GM) and they can acquire a $5000.00 discount on any vehicle of their choice (from GM). Now, I am not sure if it had stopped, but I do know that in 2000 we bought a new Grand Prix using this discount... anyway, I just didn't understand all of the hype about the employee discounts....

if you are a "supplier" (Like my company), you get a certain discount.... no "REBATE" per say, just a lower purchase price and you can still use the rebates that are offered (but you cannot use your GM Card $).... The Supplier pricing is roughly 1% off of invoice with no haggling needed...kind of nice....

an "Employee" gets an even better discount.... they may save an additional 6% or so....... (roughly 1500 on a $28k truck)....

GM is pumping up this "employee pricing" thing but they did take away some rebates, so some of the deals were actually better last week.

invoice less $3000????

It is printed right on the price sheets the dealers can email you.
That seems odd, the car lists for 75K invoices for 70K flat minus the 3K is well "8K off". The reason that I was confused is that I have had bigger discounts offered by the local dealers without the special gm pricing deal.

The local dealership next to my house has ~7 or 8 in stock right now.

XLR is a pretty sweet ride, I love how they look. I would try to swing an XLR-V though, 440hp supercharged Northstar. Yum.

i would guess it is higher than $3k.... i thought the XLR was the SUV thingy.....

a Silverado with GM employee pricing is roughly $1600 under invoice.... i assumed (wrongly) that the XLR was about $45k thinking it was the truck....doh!

I would imagine it has to be $5k or more under invoice...... sorry for the confusion!!

GME is 3-4% below invoice on any given vehicle. that's very little discount below invoice. Example XLR

Trim --- 2005 Cadillac XLR Roadster Cnvrt V8
MSRP ---- $75,835
Invoice --- $70,147
Dest. Charge --- $815
GME --- $68,042

I think the big discounts will be on the SUVs. I was looking into a bigger suv and got this back from a dealer in Daytona Beach. Looks like a denali could be had for 40k out the door if you don't add additional options

2005 GMC Yukon Denali
(Select a different vehicle)

Selected Style: AWD Denali 1SF
MSRP: $51,135.00
GM Employee Discount Price: $40,415.83
$3,500 cash back
--------------------------------------------
$36,915.83

may I ask where you got those numbers? They seem close but lower than what I'm finding. Per CNN/WSJ, GM's proposed discounts are 3-4% below invoice, no mention of whether other discounts can be added (like cash back).

http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/01/Autos/gm_i...tives/index.htm

Per InternetAutoGuide.com, Invoice on a base denali is $43,628. That would make GME at best $41,882.

Wondering if your pricing is coming from a more reliable source.

Can anyone verify that cash back and other incentives can be combined?
