Default Certified BMW Problems

So a good friend of mine traded in (at substantial financial loss) his problematic M3 for a Certified 5 Series from Peter Pan BMW in SF. In the past 20K miles the 540 has been in the shop no less than 5 times for all kinds of issues ranging from the radiator blowing to the suspension collapsing (gangsta style). He recently obtained a service history record of his car and discovered that the "CERTIFIED" car he bought has had nothing but problems all its life. Any advice on what he can do to get out of his Germanic nightmare?

No advice, but Peter Pan has a horrible reputation on the various BMW boards.
