i actually do agree with those that say Chrysler has done a lot... i date it back to the early 90's ... before Daimler, when they introduced the LH platform with the Dodge Intrepid (which I had), Concorde and Talon... those were great roomy cars that competed with the Japanese... They had a good run in the 90's... i think the whole approach of more room for man, less for machine, was great... then more recently, the 300C, Magnum, Charger combination was a very "different" approach to what GM and Ford was doing... i actually like the cars, and im much more of a European car guy... they actually offered something other than the bread and butter competition IMO... and they sold well... i see them ALL OVER... infact, im surprised and saddened that Chrysler was doing as bad as they are... in my opinion, they have the most exciting lineup amongst the Big 3... But the overhead of unions and legacy healthcare plans got them, just like the giants... and a German company couldnt be dragged down with this "American" problem...

this is the best commentary on the whole merger/split of equals I've found so far:

The whole brand can go under and it wouldn't effect me.
The UAW needs to wake up and smell the crap. Their benifits are killing the domestic auto industry. All the imports making car in the US do so without the UAW. That tells me the UAW is just a needless extra cost. Maybe it was needed in the past but no more.
GM is the largest private buyer of Viagra (spends $17 million per year on Viagra) etc.. Someone said GM is not a car company, it's a health care provider that just builds cars on the side.
GM spends $5.6 Billion per year for health care. I know we're talking about Chrysler but Chrysler is just like GM except 1/2 the size.
Maybe if Chrysler goes completly under then GM/Ford will be able to strong arm the UAW and get costs under control and put dollars into cars not Viagra.

If they built sexier cars, they wouldn't need Viagra.
