Cars from the 1990s
#21
I had a '90 CRX Si, '94 Z28 (let's forget about that one), '97 Prelude SH, and '97 Supra TT. All the Japanese cars in this group were great, but time marches on, and today's cars are better in almost every way.
I have good memories but no real desire to own any of them again.

Would you recommend anyone who has never driven a TT Supra to own one at least for a little while?
It handled and braked very well, but there was no hiding the weight. Many times the power felt a bit excessive for public roads. I had no tickets or crashes w/ it, but felt like luck had a lot to do w/ that.
They were a great value @ $40K new in '97 and in the used market until F&F. Now I think they're way overpriced (at least last I heard). I had the Supra for around a year and a half, then went to 6 years of S2000 ownership if that tells you anything.

Yeah the Supra is extremely overpriced now, and it's impossible to find one that isn't highly modified (extremely expensive) or not abused. I think they start out at $24,000 for completely stock turbo versions @ 80k miles. The N/A's are considerably cheaper but who wants one of those

Out of all those cars I'd choose the FD Rx-7's hands down. I would never put a V8 in one. Thats vehicular castratration! The rotary made that car what it is. Yes, they have problems but its one of those things that goes with the car. Honestly my next sports car would probably be a 7 to park next to the S. I love these things. Its a shame that a good example of one is getting harder and harder to find. I actually came a hair of owning one. Read the post in my sig. I'm glad in a way I didn't get it because shortly after I was introduced to the S.
This is a funny thread to me because I'm always drawn to these 1990's cars. Except the skyline.

the cars from the 80s were nice too as some posters have brought up some great ones..let us not forget the big bad GNX!!!
You guys are naming some great cars, I forgot about the Type R.
I should have made this a poll but here a great question!
Would you rather have a:
Ferrai 430
or
NSX AND RX7 AND SUPRA?
Me, I would choose the latter option. Am I alone?
To those who think the newer cars are WAY better I have to disagree. The old cars have more style and are more unique. These newer cars tend to blend in with the background, with a few exceptions of course.
I think the Supra is a great car and platform. What car can you buy for 30K even now and build to 800rwhp on a stock block and still get decent gas mileage, not pay 10K on service visits every year and still be fairly dependable AND not see yourself on every corner? Not many!!!! It is old but it is far from being out of the game, IMO!

I'm more of an '80s car fan myself. Peter Egan wrote that he generally liked two groups of cars; the ones available right around the time of his birth, and the ones that were available when he started driving.
These rides are doing nothing for me.
