Dude, I gotta tell you, I envy you.

Its on my list of things to do before I die to drive the ring, and you are able to swing by on your way home.. you're a lucky guy.. the cars that surround you are just the icing on the cake

Nice write up too!

It truly is an experience. When I first got to Germany and had my first taste of the Ring, I was in total shock. Flabbergasted. Amazed. And right away, I was hooked.

I've driven over 260 laps of the 21km circuit and ridden along for a hundred more, and yet everyday I yearn to head out there again for more.

Aside from expected brake pad changes, brake disc cracking, and tyre requirements, the S2000 is running reliably on the track, too. I have just under 99k km on the clock.

It's not just the driving, though. The drivers and riders, the tourists, the journalists, the test drivers, the racers, and even the posers and ricers all add to the fun and uniqueness of the place. Then there's all the hotels and restaurants around with all the motorsports influence and history. Even the roads leading to the Ring are among the most challenging and enjoying stretches of asphalt in the country.

Come over sometime, it's not that far away!

Robin, great post, thanks for sharing. The C-GT seems more like a cruise missle than a car in that video.

Hi Robin,

Is this is the same Horst with whom we had dinner at Sabine's place after you, Soeren, and I got together on my last trip to the Ring? I remember his saying about the AMG SL mule he was topspeed testing -- with some 650 hp? -- "yes, well, it's a nice car."

What a life!

There's a Carrera GT in Oregon, of all places. What I liked about it was that on Saturday, I saw it parked three houses down from the house of a friend of mine, with bug splatters all over the front of it. On Sunday, it was at PIR, immaculate, as a show car for a track event. The guy seems to actually drive it. Then again, he also owns an Enzo and F55... Lucky man.

Thanks for the post. It's great.

Best,
CBender
Yeah, I saw that same dude in his enzo in corvallis by Jack in the Box!!
He's a cool guy. I think he owns fisher marine or something like that. He has a strange first name I can never remember. I talked to the guys at rennsport (a porsche shop in portland) they did the straight exhaust on his F50. The guy who owns rennsport does the work on almost all of his cars Porsche or not. He got to drive the F40 right next to the owner, who was driving the F50, down I5....he wanted to see which was faster.

He is at PIR constantly. He's a great driver and he has a stable of automobiles. He's a got a 959, multiple elise's, F40, F50, 360, Enzo, Carrera GT, bad ass track 70's 911, etc. There is a video running around of him in his Enzo at PIR...cool stuff.
