My boss is picking up a 997 C4S Cab. The Cab to enjoy Colorado Summer and the AWD to get around in the Colorado Winter. He plans to drive the car year round, and throw on a set of Winter wheels/tires for a few months of the year. Makes perfect sense.
The point was: why get a C4 non-S cabrio unless you don't care about sport.
And if so, then that's totally fine. Isn't that what the reviews say about the Targa 4?
Lacks some of the rigidity and higher center of gravity, but fine for the people who aren't fanatical about performance or handling.

What you armchair quarterbacks don't realize or can't accept is that most people who can afford cars like this didn't get the means to purchase them by being stupid. Your priorities don't necessarily equal theirs, and they probably have perfectly valid reasons for their decisions. If these cars don't fill a need in the market, they probably wouldn't have a very long production run.
I wouldn't buy a C4 Cab, but won't 2nd guess the purchase rationale of those who do.

I'm interested to see what the friend thinks of his 4Cab after the OP gets his R8.

nice car, don't want silver again, don't want 4 wheel drive but the car is a dream for me, someday i will own another porsche, mean time i have two cars for less than the 911 cost and enjoy them both. guess i would rather have a tl and a s2000 than a 911! things change.
