Default Car Stuff in LA?

I'm in LA on a business trip. What kind of cool car stuff is there to do here?

So far, I plan to go to Cal Speed karting center this Wednesday to race some rental go karts. Any suggestions are appreciated. For that matter, any recommendations for fun LA stuff in general would be appreciated.

Besides the usual "local" tracks and car shows, I don't know much about "car stuff" in LA. You could drive the canyons in Malibu (really fun!) or join a group drive. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Now talking about some fun (imho) LA stuff / general ideas I got you covered

Venice Beach boardwalk
Santa Monica pier
Hiking in Palos Verdes
street tacos in LA
Hiking to the "Bat Cave" in LA
Hiking to Murphy's Ranch in LA
checking out places in LA on atlasobscura.com (nice site!)
checking out places in LA on uer.ca
music concerts in LA (sometimes FREE at The Grand!) laweekly.com
Griffith Park Observatory
Old LA Zoo
Sunken City
Queen Mary
Battleship I.O.W.A
rooftop bars in LA
stand up paddle boarding
Catalina Island
gun range
HOP WOO chinese food in LA
Santee Alley
food truck festival in LA (KOGI)

Hope it helps! If not, sorry and GOOD LUCK!

peace

Haha too funny. I was just out there two weeks ago for a movie premiere. I'll tell you what, you're gonna see exotics and modified cars everywhere so keep your phone or camera handy. Venice beach, rodeo dr, Hollywood, the observatory, grab breakfast at The Griddle, take a ride up along the coast of Malibu & Santa Monica. That's all we really had time for but there's definitely plenty to do! And great weather.

There is a special invite only Honda museum in Torrance. If you know someone who knows 'somebody' it's worth it.

Glad you had a good visit! Kept hoping you would post a follow up in your thread after so the people who gave you suggestions know if they gave helpful advice or not.

It really depends on where in LA you will be since it's such a huge area. For instance, the karting center you mentioned is in Fontana which is way on the eastern-most edge of what is considered LA.

1) CARS & COFFEE - Too bad the Cars & Coffee in Irvine is gone, but I think there is still the one in Carlsbad, (not sure).
2) HONDA MUSEUM - I was invited by the NSX club to visit the Honda Museum in Torrance, CA. I don't know if you can pay to get in but I highly recommend it.
3) CALSPEED OUTDOOR KARTING - $100 for an all day experience and race, cannot beat that. Sign up Early!. Fontana, CA

What car are you renting? May want to drive down Mulholland. Like from the 101 to the ocean --- if you have time. Think there is a dirt portion by Topanga Canyon Road which need to be bypassed?

Anyway have fun, while in So Cal!
