Default Cannot get insurance: S2000 going to stick around for a while

Afternoon everybody:

I just wanted to share with you all a personal wake-up call. I have had the opportunity to get the car of my dreams recently... The only problem ? Finding an insurance company that will insure the car... So I decided to keep my S2000 for a while. I'm still happy with my car, just that it is major rain day on my parade... It is absolutely amazing how the major insurance companies are in cahouts, in that they are all looking after themselves in this very tightly controlled, regulated, and monopolistic industry. After (much needed and overdue) welfare reform and health care reform, I'd like to see a movement taking place in the automobile insurance industry.

Now I'm getting too off topic... Happy motoring, all...

Your story is incomplete. What car were you trying to buy?

My guess is vette (maybe even a Z06). They have one of the highest insurance costs of any car outside of exotics.

Sorry - It is a 2000 Modena 360... Corsa red, manual, 7,100 miles... And I finally managed to break down my fiance in "letting" me buy it.... And my story has an update to it: I did find an insurance company, but with an annual premium of over $10,000, I will not go ahead with the purchase...

And that VW is starting to grow on me a bit...

That sucks... must be nice to even consider it. But remember one thing, you only live once.

Here are a couple of questions for you...

Will this be a daily driver?

If not have you contacted http://www.Grundy.com ?

I have a Ford Mustang that I have insured with them, it has an agreed upon value of $35,000. So if it is stolen, totaled, etc... it is worth $35,000. It can not be used as a daily driver but the car can be driven as many miles outside of work transportation. It has a zero deductible....and it costs me about $500 a year. The car is lowered, supercharged, and has full racing suspension and they are completely aware of the car they are insuring. They insure based on the value of the car....

You might have seen my car on this board before....I have attached a picture. And that is what I had to do to get insurance with them. I also had to prove that I had other cars to use as a daily driver.

BTW the S2000 would not qualify as a collectors car....
