Default Can someone explain the 350Z models?

I'm looking at the 350Z specs on Nissan's website and it seems that the track model with Brembos and other glorious lightweight (Rays forged 18"s) pieces the car manages to be heavier than the standard model by a whole lot of pounds.

Can anyone explain this?

But it also has other wonderful stuff, like LS diff, bigger brakes, etc. That's why it's a little heavier than the base and enthusiast models.

Let's see...

Base - 3188
Enthu - 3197
Perf - 3217
Tour - 3247
Track - 3225

I dunno, there's only 59 lbs difference between the lighest and heaviest versions. And the Track is only 38 lbs heavier than the no-option Base. That includes bigger wheels, bigger brakes, and the above mentioned features among other things. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

I've had this discussion multiple times. The Track is listed at 3225 lbs. But, thats dry weight. With Full tank of gas, and all fluids, I have seen weight listed at 3400. That's without a driver. That isn't a track car by my definition.

the people at best motoring hate the fact that VDC cannot be fully turned off. the prefer the base with aftermarket goodies instead.

I thought the original question was about the Track model in relation to the Base model? Not the Track model's overall worthiness as a track car. (In which case, I'd say that anything over 2000 lbs is too much. )

In any case, I'm not so sure you're correct about that dry weight assertion. Is that something that only Nissan does? The 2800 pound S2000 usually comes in lighter than that when put on the scales, suggesting the weight is with full fluids.

As the last poster said, traditionally "curb weight" is full fluids and fuel. I didn't know that it was an actual federal reg, though.

From their own website, the Track appears to be a Performance with bigger brakes, "lighter" wheels (same size), and some aero addons. I can see that accounting for the 8 lbs above the Performance model.

To me, this is another example of cynical marketing. Call it "Track", charge more. Then a lot of folk will say "hey, I'm buying a performance car, and that's obviously the one". Many assume it has a track-special suspension. Not as far as I know. Whether this is worth $3650 over the "Performance" is a personal call. Obvious where I stand.
