Default Can a slow car, be cool?

Every time I see a classic VW Bug or Karmann Ghia, I think... those are ridiculously cool cars, albeit god awful slow (in stock/ish trim).

But, what about modern/ish cars? Are there any "cool" cars that are "slow"? Slow, as in, you're struggling to merge onto the freeway, an old woman in he pensioner Cadillac could overtake you. Slow, 0-60 in 6+ secs, slow.

FRS/BRZ twins come into mind... maybe the Fiat Abarth 500? Are there any cars in the past decade or so that fit both? Mazda Protege 5?

I think your definition of slow is way off, but oh well.

We've got a 500 Abarth as a fun car a couple summers ago. It's a blast to drive.

An old VW Bug or Karmann Ghia are both 10+ second 0-60 cars, not even in the same arena, those are slow and can be scary merging onto a busy highway.

Cars don't have to be fast to be cool.

I agree, which is why I gave those examples... but what other cars are there that are "cool", that are slow?

Prowler comes to mind as well...

Modern car (built within the last 5-6 years) that comes to mind for me is the ND mx-5. 86-twins are cool if the whole reliability thing is sorted out. It's essentially a modern day e30 m3 with a motor that doesn't sound anywhere near as cool.

Slow cars make you better at planning (think driving your GF's Prius C whenever you're together)...

More "ish" than "modern", but I'd nominate the Nissan "retro-themed" cars like the Pao and the Figaro. And just old enough that they are being imported now. If I lived in a beach town, I'd consider a Pao. Maybe deliver pizzas in an S-Cargo.
