Looking to replace my 03 Cobra that I sold and I've decided on a Corvette. I'm entertaining the idea of getting a clean low milage C5 Z06 or a new C6 Vette. The Z06 is actually cheaper and from what I've heard the performance between the two is close with the Z06 being more of a track car. The Z06 is a fixed roof car while the C6 has the removable targa top. The C6 is supposed to be more comfortable although I haven't driven either one so I'll wait to make that determination myself. Which one would you buy???

That's a tough choice. Either one is great. You know the Z06 is cheaper and (IMO) more of a performance car while the C6 (non-z06) a bit more GT/luxury.

I don't like the looks of the C5 Z06 (in or out) so that would sway me to a C6 (I don't like the pop-up head lights). Also I suppose the targa is a nice feature.

This is a hard chioce for me. I'd say the Z06 if you want to track it also as said it's a good bit cheaper and (I think) a better performer.

Could give me either one and I'd be happy.

C6 - targa, new, better looks and interior

C5 Z06 - cheaper, better performer but worse looks and worse interior.

All things being equal, a Z51 C6, but I guess it would really depend on the particular C5 and it's pricing.

Anbody have any significant seat time in a C6. Im looking also at the possibility of getting one.

I owned an '05 z51 c6 for 17 months,added headers,exhaust and tuning so had it to 390 at the wheels.Its a great car but not as nimble as the s2k.Mine was very fast and although it held the corners better than the s2k it wasn't nearly as fun.Its real trick was redline acceleration runs ( I had my rev limiter raised to 6850) and hitting triple digets in no time.I had a few problems with the car but they were mostly annoyances.I really miss that power but mine was a coupe and I also missed the vert.Will probably get another in the future.The 07's will be much improved.

The C6 is a much better car underneath that better looking bodywork. Almost as fast in every way as a C5 Z06 as well. I'm not sure this is much of a decision...

I've spent a lot of time on the Vette forums and from what I've read both cars are capable of running mid to low 12's. With mods I've read posts of guys hitting high 11's which would be more than enough for me. I like the look of the C6 better but the Z06 has a unique look that you don't see with other Vette's. A Z06 can be as much as 10 - 15 grand less than the C6.

I'd get the C6....but just because I like newer cars.

I'm leaning towards the C6 but it's hard to argue with saving 10 grand.
