Default buying my first car

Does it would be a good idea to buy a jdm ae86 trueno '86.i know that it a old cars but i can find some in good conditions and under 3.5k$.This would be great for a student.Wat do you think about that?

And to make you happy i could do a f20 swap.

It's your money do whatever you want. But just look out for rust and every other inherent problem you will encounter with a 20 year old vehicle. It'll cost you almost another $8k to get the F20 swap to run by the way.

ok sure 160hp to the crank, not to the wheels. The car is still 20 years old and will still have problems inherent to a 20 year old vehicle. But think what you want.

If you are a student, and looking for something reliable to get you through school... I would advise against it. I would probably look for a nice reliable civic or something like that. I drove an EX for three years in school...never had to do one major repair...and then sold it for about 700 bucks less than I had bought it for.

However, if you know what you are getting into with a trueno...and you really want it...I say go for it. And guys, don't give him too much guff...these are all cars that I have personally inspected, so I know they are good to go.

Sincerely,
Thrusty M. Person

I doubt you can find a good condition one for under $3500. Most current owners are gonna sell it only because they drifted and crashed it, then sell it for "cheap" (Craiglist posting: Check out this cheap Trueno for sale! RARE).

Phew, well now that I know you have harshfury's endorsement, that makes it better.

Sure go out and spend all your money on a Trueno. How can you possibly go wrong?

Go ahead and get it if you want. Your $$ right? One thing I would like to ask is if the AE86 is RHD (JDM right?) you will have a great time trying to fit a header in since the header is on the right side of the car.

If the car has rust through I would avoid it. Chassis is already weak.

Good luck!

If this is any inspiration I fit an F20 in my 74 corolla!!
