a tl in 6-sp would be great, if there's one in my price range. A-spec would be better.
Do you know if the rear seats fold down? That comes in handy.
Basically I'm looking for a 4 or 5 door that handles well/fun to drive, that's reliable and easy/cheap to maintain. Hence the Civic si/tsx. I'd do a CRV based on functionality though, too. A TL would be fun, but euro cars are likely a bit more than I'd like to spend, both up front and maint (my wife has a 330i, and man, it's not cheap to have serviced!).

Number 2 was definitely modded - might have dependability issues and engine strain to deal with.

Whenever I see someone driving an SI I feel bad for them. It has got to be one of the slowest 'sporty' cars on the road...

Yeah, because speed is the only thing worth considering when buying a sporty car.
Looks? Ugly.
Handling? Decent, but FWD.
Braking? Midpack.
Interior? Ugly.
Reliability? Good.
So lets see, SI drivers have a car that excels in one or two categories, but lags in most. Yup, I still feel bad for them. Sorry if you don't like it.

What else is there? In addition to being slow, I guess we could add:

I couldn't give a shit what you think. Just saying your standards of what makes a car desirable aren't universal.

Wow, so much anger.. While true that standards for desirability are not universal, I personally cannot see why anyone in the SI consumer segment would choose it over a competing vehicle. Perhaps you could enlighten us sans profanity.
