Budget of $120k, what car would you get?
#211
Yep, different strokes for different folks. I loved my Cayman, but for $120K I'd be looking hard at a 991 or the new Viper...but being the cheap bastard I am, I'd prob. just get a C7 Z51 and pocket the difference.

That's exactly what I was thinking of, a 991. I understand the OP has a 997.1 RS, but everything I've been reading about a 991 S implies that it's a better car than the older RS.

Sometimes a more expensive car isn't a better car, depending on a driver's preferences. Give me a budget of $60k, and I'd still get an S2000.

Plus, just because it's a 911 doesn't mean it's better. Most reviews say the cayman now is as good if not better, especially the steering feel. Plus I personally like the new caymans looks better than the 991...

I would recommend test driving the 991 before making assumptions about how it compares to the Cayman or 997. I was truly blown away by how exceptionally badass the Carrera 4S was - and that was putting it to the test on the track, plus riding shotgun in it all day there. Loved my 987 Cayman S, but it's not in the same league as the 991.

I'm sure you'll love the 2014. I had the pleasure of riding along with my HPDE instructor in his 2013 at Homestead-Miami in June. Stock except for GiroDiscs, pads, and R-comps. Absolutely mind blowing what that car could do. Made me feel positively slow in my turbo 987 (with inexperienced me driving on street tires).
You'll love having PASM on a daily driver. Between that and Sport Chrono , the difference in character is night a day, but you've probably already experienced that with the GT3RS.
Take 'em both to the track....trust me.

Are those $3,465 seats really worth the upgrade?
Interesting how they charge you for leather, and then also the seat upgrade.
There's been some problems in the past with the seats on Cayman's I believe. None of that crap is covered after like 2 years or some crap. not a problem for a balla but just irritating.

mchi5, congrats on the Cayman S order. Though, if I had stumbled into this thread earlier I would have deeply suggested that you test drive a C63 AMG Black Series or (if you can't find one b/c they're rare) a C63 with the performance pack, or that middle ground one that has 500+ hp for it's final year of production.
Heck, I'd still go test drive one
