I don't think you replied to my idea of a dodge viper acr. They sell for 90-110k and have that lunacy you want from a weekend car, not sure if it's still the fastest car around the nurburgring, but it is or once was and I think it looks bad ass. Also won't depreciate as much considering it's pretty rare.

Also, have you thought of something like maybe a caterham r500? Also, Someone on the forum owns a turbocharged Cayman, maybe think of that idea?

I think before you call the alpha 9 gtr too mechanical, you should drive one. If you havent. I would bet that your assumption would change.
sorry but a GT-R (albeit a very very fast one) isn't something "special" like the OP said he is looking for. Everything isn't about performance. If it was than all threads would end @ GT-R.
Agreed, I know it doesn't appeal to everyone, I personally love it's looks and performance. But for 120k there are better looking less performing cars

sorry, thought i have said it in an earlier post. never a fan of the Viper. not my thing. but i know some members on here have one, so i ain't gonna bad mouth it

yeah i used to belong to a Cayman forum, and knew a few who turbo'd them. i'm not out for all out performance, if so, i'd consider the Shelby GT500, like 600+ hp or so? i want the overall package...handling, driver involvment, fun factor

I mean, come on... http://m.motortrend.com/roadtests/co..._gt_r_alpha_9/
Probably the most unattractive GTR i have seen
I have to agree with the above.

I actually like the look of a stock GTR. But although crazy fast doesn't do it for me. For me it has to sound good, give you chills down your spine when you up or downshift, and engage you with its driving dynamics. I know the GTR doesn't sound that good stock

And you don't think an alpha 9 gtr would do all that!??? Lol a stock gtr no, I agree, but I've ridden in a 700+ hp gtr and words just cannot describe it.

I don't know...the first time I drove a stock GT-R (the one I ended up buying) I thought damn this car is pretty special (enough to trade a fast comfy 335 daily driver and well setup s/c Lotus track car).

The amount of grip and ability to put the power down in 1st and 2nd and coming off slow corners is nuts. Also going from a normal cruising speed to getting arrested speeds happens in the blink of an eye with the fast DCT and immediate torque.

I doubt anyone could drive a 900+ hp GT-R hard and say it was boring.

I don't know what timescale you are on to buy your next ride...
The Alfa 4C supposed to go on sale some point in the next year or so in the US. Not that huge on horsepower but not that much on weight either. I bet it would be a lot of fun to toss around corners and I doubt you would see too many of them on the roads. Just a thought.

TC also checkout 6speedonline.com. Threads on this forum like this dealing with the purchase of exotics typically wind up turning into who has deepest pockets, what kind of house they bought, and how you're supposed to spend your money.

On 6speed most of the people are already well off so when you start a thread like this finances are out the window and people will just talk about cars.

Early model Gallardo, or R8 in 6spd manual. F430 coupe/spider with either transmission. All these are already hit with depreciation, and you probably already know about maintenance. I would put 360CS up there but I don't know if it would fit your budget and prices seem to be rising.

I think you said you will not consider a vette in your earlier posts as well... so, given the above, Cayman S will fulfill your needs and for a lot less than your budget. More money for the trip to Germany (Euro delivery), a set of track wheels and tires, driving school, a Gumball rally in the wife's ride, and the retirement account.
