Default BTE Transmissions

Let me start off by saying Hello! I'm currently looking for a Strip/Street trans for my 67 Chevelle, Car will be running a 509CI Stroker, on Q16 good for about 700hp, no turbos or superchargers but a healthy dose of the silly spray is in order for another 400-500hp. Car has a Chris Alston's Eliminator II rear w/ 12 bolt solid axel with Strange goodies. The car is being built to handle anything I can throw at it, Its not a dedicated Drag car so I need a trans with more than 2 gears. Its not going on long hauls but local area meets with in 20 miles.

I was looking a few different Transmissions, ATI, B&M, JWP, etc. I've known about BTE power glides and they are one of the best, and I also know that the owner of BTE was one of the founders of ATI and both companies make excellent torque converters, so what I'm looking for is anyone with any experience with BTETH350 or 400's in a racing application. There isn't much out there besides the typical back and forth, "they suck", "they are great" etc. I'm looking for any solid info from anyone who has used them, installed them, whatever.

If it does come down to it, I'm not against buying a Power glide for the strip and a Th400 for the street, would rather not have too but its not something I wont do.

Or if anyone has suggestions of there own. I am Open. just looking to get something under this damn car so I can move it in an out of the garage with out pushing it.

Sorry no pics until its finished.

Thanks for reading.
