Why so hard on the ISF? The more competitors to the M3, the better for us. Hell, I firmly believe that the M3 is priced at $55k soley because of the ISF. Competition is best for the consumers...
Now if I was spending your money, I'd recommend the Lexus or Benzo (probably wouldn't ever recommend a Benz), but for me the M3 is it.

I believe the M3 (or any of these cars) is not trying to be Z06 quick or GTR quick. I don't think that's very important for most people who buy cause they can clearly buy a Z06 if they want instead of a M3. I think they want something special looking and that's reasonably quick-ish. I mean a car that has no trouble beating V6 Accords or G35s etc..
I do not think many owners of these cars are truly going to street race or even track race. I think they are 90% showing they can afford more than a 335 or Vette.
I do not mean to imply the M3 is not better than a 335 in many many ways (better brakes, LSD, better sound system option, better suspension and active suspension, better resale, better interior, better looks to some) etc.. It's true the M3 is probably not worth $15K to $20K more than a Corvette or 335i based on performance for the extra money. But some don't mind spending money for slightly better (over the 335) or slightly up-scale (over a Vette).
I also believe the M3 is murdering the Cayman S in a straight line (for the same cost) and keeping up with non-GT3s 911s in a straight line (maybe a fraction slower but not a lot slower than a 911S).

2mph trap is not muder. That's 2 cars.
And here's an IHE Cayman S, just as fast as an M3: http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-Cay...lip-10832.html

BMW built a GOD of a car in the high-performance sedan category. Many keep forgetting this is a manual tranny car going up against the ''super-smart'' 8 speed tranny from Lexus. Just wait until they test the DCT tranny. BMW promises it makes the car faster and marginally more fuel efficient. The BOSS IS BACK. Make no mistake.
