Bought an RDX

Bought an RDX
I bought my wife a 2015 RDX yesterday. I must say, I am blown away by how sporty this thing is. Just out of curiosity, I lined it up against my C5 Z06. It was nearly as fast to 60, but it actually brakes shorter and handles better. Prior to experiencing this car, the nicest leather I'd ever experienced in a car was in a Bentley Flying Spur. It has nothing on the RDX.
Just kidding. This thing is a washing machine on wheels. A refrigerator, at best. It's a nice vehicle, and it feels like a good buy, but holy crap is thing boring to drive.

It's a SUV, what did you expect? My wife loves her 2015 RDX. So do I. I love my C7 Stingray vert, but the RDX beats the hell out of it tailgating before football games and hauling stuff and dogs up to Big Bear, an LA area mountain resort at 7,000 feet. (We take both cars for that.) It makes a perfect daily driver for my wife.

Ever drive a first gen RDX? Way more engaging. I mean, I don't care at all since I don't have to drive but on the rarest of occasions, but it is boring, even for an SUV. Maybe not Chrysler 200 boring, but a snooze fest nonetheless.

I looked at this gen RDX but ended up taking a Durango Citadel home as a larger, nicer alternative. It remindeds me of an LS with a lift. It is no sports car, but we have other cars for that - the truck is for long distances and daily commuting and it is great at that, as I expect the RDX will be for you.

We were considering an MDX, but determined it was too big. We didn't really consider a lot of alternatives other than the Lexus NX and Lexus GX. The GX suffered from the same problem as the MDX. I thought the NX was the nicest of the bunch, but it costs considerably more for a comparably equipped NX than an RDX.
The one we bought was a dealer demo with the technology package. Even though we're the first ones to buy it, since the dealership people put a few thousand miles on it, we got it as an Acura certified pre-owned, so we get all the warranty doo-dads that come along with that. Not bad for the low thirties.

I really like my '09 RDX.
I know they had to make changes to be competitive with Lexus (softer suspension and smoother power delivery), but the 1st gen is so fun for what it is. Plan on getting the FIPK and Hondata for it soon.
Mine is at 150k miles without a single repair. If the newest version is as reliable, then it should give many miles of service.
