BMW Z4 M or Porcshe Boxster S?
Hi Guys,
It's time to move on from my beloved S2000, but I am in a kind of dilemma!
I always wanted a Boxster S but now the Z4 M comes in the scene and am all mixed up which one I shal get.
If it were you what you get, and why?
Jes

BM Z4M.
Its looks more roadster then the boxster (IMHO), and there are less of them on the roads.
I believe the engine was engine of the year also (not sure which year). Thats enough for me

Read the BMW site on the new M3 V8 engine... they totally sell out the old engine. "There's a time to move on...."
If you wait a little, the Z4M will get the new V8.
How pissed would you be to buy a Z4M and miss the upgraded engine by one year....
Remember the Z3 M roadster... 240hp, then the following year got the 333hp powerplant.
Regardless, I'd get the Boxster S, though.

The Z4 M is faster in the straight line with sub 5 sec for 0-60 sec, but the mid engine Box has superior handling and its made for the bends.
Looks I like both of them.
I already tested the Box S and its awesome, but am waiting for the Z M to arrive, in three weeks to test drive too.

The M coupe is a little rougher around the edges as far as handling/performance driving goes. Its a handful... which is what makes it cool. The quote from car and driver was something along the lines of "the boxter is the scalpel and the M coupe is a hammer" Also you cant really compare the regular Z4 to the M. They are 2 completely different breeds. The 3.0Si feels like crap because it has electronic steering whereas the M is hydrolic. I wont even bother to go into the difference in suspension, runflat tires etc. I feel that the M coupe looks better.... which is part of the reason i own one... the porsche was alright but wasnt enough to justify it in my mind. I just like the feel of the M more.

This isn't even a comparison - the Boxster S trumps the Z4M in every subjective category, whilst being superior in all objective categories save power.
If you want a real sports car get the Boxster S. Just be prepared to shell out $$$ for the car, options, and maintenance.
