Not sure if it's just an M5/M6 engine with two cylinders less, but the weight is quite a lot compared to other comparable engines in its class (say, power ratio).

The 6.2 liter engine from MB weighs less, has more power and torque... same goes for the Z06 LS7 engine.

Meh, I'm not that impressed with the M5/M6 engine after driving an M6 last year.

Yes, MB's are more expensive, and definitely the weight doesn't help. But many agree MB's are built for a different class of people. Even the head of MB has told this publicly on several occasions.

They're not per se competing with BMW, who of course make some very fine cars. I just personally loved the torque and responsiveness of the E63 I drove compared to the M6... maybe I'm a bit lazy and like to have low end torque without the need to constantly push the engine to its limits (the S2000 is a different story, it's a real pleasure to go VTEC and 9k rpm ).

It's all about personal taste anyway, to each their own

I will probably be picking up the new M3 since my E46 just smacked me in the face by breaking. Took it to the dealer and it cost 2k to fix misfire in cylinder 6.

Anyway yea BMW is more of a young mans car and MB is more of a older mans car. Although I love my dads S55 AMG. It's soooo quiet inside and the torque makes my car feel like a mouse.

How many miles? Modded? What happened?

How about the new S54-equipped M Coupe/Vert as a replacement? Or the ones that will have V8 (rumored)?

Sorry a little OT, I guess.

You DO know there's a recall on a misfire issue on a good amount of M3s right? Specifically on your model year.
