The one thing that most people were looking for was a weight under 3000lbs... They only missed that by 300 lbs... So just picture a fat chick in the car at all times...
Still looks fun though.

For this money I'd rather get a 2012 Boss 302 without the Laguna (with or without the Recaros). Maybe even a used M5. Note that I'd rather choose a new M3 Sedan over a Boss (I'm weird, I know). :-)

Keeping the weight under 3,000 pounds was the huge seller of the car. It was going to go back to the roots. The days when the 3 series was fun a flickable due to being 2800 pounds. Well they missed the boat by a quarter ton. I would say they blew it. Remember you need to look at this with dollar signs. GREAT CAR. But the only way it was really going to attract some different BMW owners was offering something not out there. The weight needed to be LOW like the promised. The guy above is right. For the money I would think a BMW guy is getting a BARELY used M3 or M5, and for every other non-bmw guy, just guy a new 302 mustang.

Sorry, I haven't really followed Bimmers for a while, but based on the specs in the original post above, what is the difference between the M and the standard 135? I thought the 135 already had ~330hp.

The M car is a lot sharper and more responsive than the 135. It also sounds like it delivers the power a bit better. They even mention it to be faster than the M3 in certain situations due to it's fatter torque curve.
Personally, I like it. I don't know how tunable that engine/ECU is, but I bet it would respond VERY well to mods. This car with about 400HP would be crazy good.
