Hmmm, M cars usually don't last past 100k, now a bimmer revving to 11k, I can't imagine how reliability is with that?
Where did u get this information I see lots of older M's running around with over 100K miles on them. My E46 M3 is rapidly closing in on the 100K mark and it is has been a wonderful car. My M3 has had a redline of almost 9K RPM's for the majority of those miles as well. I think mis-directed, un-informed statements like this perpetuate stereotypes that aren't accurate.

Just curious, what other cars out there are high revving? I know the RS4 has an 8250 redline, but what else is out there?
I think the new M3, M5, Ferrari 360... all rev beyond 8000rpm (360 is 8500 I believe) to name a few.

No way BMW would do this. They might as well five us the four banger from their WTCC 320Si. Way cheaper and revs only to 9k rpm and makes 275hp. They probably will do what they did with the E46 3 series and add a performance package and raise the boost of the 135i and slight weight reduction. 11k rpm? One can only dream to have this in a production car.

Porsche GT3 is at 8400, Ferrari F430 and Enzo are up around there as well.
