BMW to bring V6's over now?
X1 spy shots
My guess is that this will be the new 1/3/5 series base motor? and the turbo motor will stay or get tweaked?
I'd rock a 1 series with that motor. Won't worry about the turbo down the line and you basically have the same specs as the first few year models of a 350z
BMW has released a few official photos of the upcoming X1 draped in camouflage.
According to TimesOnline there will be three engine choices in Europe: a 177hp diesel and 204hp diesel, and a gas powered 272bhp 3.0L V6. The US is likely to only receive the V6 when the X1 is released here.
We can expect to see the official production version of the X1 at the Frankfurt Motor Sow this September.

Rumor has it BMW will start making V6s. There is some logic to that as their I6s are very long and simply don't package well. As nice as they are, they don't fit nicely in small cars.

Well, Ryne got it RIGHT. That is a typo fellas. The engine will have a 3.0L I6 engine with 272HP and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
I'm not quite sold on the X1. The only V6 BMW is considering is in FI form, and that is for the //M. They realize the immense weight advantages. We shall see.

BMW going the Honda way: screw making fun cars, let's make ugly useless stuff.
As long as it makes money, I guess that's all that matters. I don't blame them though.
