I think pantyraider knows better and was just kidding, but since people seem to be taking him seriously, I should point out that in SCCA autocross (pretty much the ultimate definition of twisties), the C5 Z06 is in the class above the S2000. In addition, the performance gap between the two classes is so wide that many people are calling for a new class to be created between them.

So, no, the S2000 won't take the Blue Devil in the twisties, or anywhere else for that matter.

one good thing that'll comes out of this is that the Z06 price will drop since there will be less of a demand.

what is up with this recent wave of insane american cars...

the shelby gt500 is due this summer, 500hp/480 torque for a whopping price range of 40-50k. this will be direct competition with the c6 vettes, making the production of the blue devil even more necessary IMO.

then we got all the srt8's, and the incoming (supposedly) camaro and challenger....

i think the US is going absolutely bananas, diving into the performance car market like crazy. and so far i think they're doing pretty darn well. i can't believe someone can just put simple bolt-on's on a 50k car (shelby gt500) and have a car that's as fast or faster than the c6z, which is already a beast.

put the blue devil into the picture.....wow.

and did i mention how damn sexy the shelby gt500 looks!!!

No, but you can get damn near keeping it under control. I suspect we'll see some traction aids, too. Besides for 98% of all driver's out there (even most of you that AutoX) R Compounds are a waste of time, they hide driving flaws when you arent on the limits and they quickly bite and take your head off when you are driving hard.
Depnds on what group you are going for, and how you are marketing this vehicle. Look at the Ferrari Challenge Stradale, it had as standard the pirelli P Zero Corsas. The upcoming Porsche GT3 will have either the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's or PS Cups as tires. If this is a car that is positioned as a fast track car (ala GT2's/GT3's & Challenge Stradales) then R Compound tires do offer significant advantages over regular "street" tires. If it is intended as a primary street car then I would expect them to go with the grippiest F1 Supercars.

Not necessarily true. Downforce can be made without increasing drag much, just look at F1 cars. Plus, how much downforce does a street car actually need? Minimal. As long as the car does not generate lift at speed, it's probably fine.
Well we're not talking about just any street car, are we?
